How to fit it
1. Power off and unplug the machine, then remove the bobbin case, needle plate, and bobbin before accessing the hook race.
2. Note the orientation of the old CB hook as you remove it; the replacement 317.000.23 seats the same way into the race and works with your standard CB bobbin case.
3. Seat the new hook fully and reinstall the bobbin case, needle plate, and bobbin, keeping the race clean and free of lint.
4. Apply a small drop of sewing-machine oil to the hook race -- routine oiling is the single best way to extend hook life and keep stitch pickup clean.
5. Hook timing is critical on these BERNINA CB machines: if you are not confident setting needle-to-hook timing, have the hook fitted and timed by a qualified BERNINA technician to avoid skipped stitches or damage.
Questions and answers
Will this fit my BERNINA machine?
It fits the BERNINA CB 'Old Style' 5.5mm machines -- the 700, 800, and 900 series, the 1000 series up through the 1530, and CB-era Activa/Virtuosa (120-170) and Aurora 430/440 models. If you have a modern 9mm machine (5, 7, or 8 Series), that uses a different rotary hook -- message us your model and we'll confirm the correct part.
Is this the Old Style CB hook or the New Style 9mm rotary hook?
This is the New Style all-metal, narrow-rim CB hook (part 317.000.23), which replaces the older half-plastic CB hook. It fits CB-platform machines and is not the 9mm rotary hook used by the newer 5, 7 and 8 Series machines.
How hard is it to install?
Removing and seating the hook is straightforward for an experienced sewist, but needle-to-hook timing must be correct. If you're unsure about timing, we recommend fitting by a qualified technician for reliable stitch quality.
Is this a BERNINA hook or a replacement?
This is a quality all-metal replacement hook built to the BERNINA CB specification, with a narrow-rim profile and cross-referenced to part numbers 317.000.23 / 0015245100 / 030206.52.00. It seats your standard CB bobbin case and installs like the original.
