Find your PFAFF group, then check the exact accessory
PFAFF uses lettered machine groups to help readers navigate its accessory catalog. The 2026 catalog subdivides J into J1–J3 and K into K1–K5. Keep that full code with the exact model name: a broad letter or the words “for PFAFF” leave out useful information.
The chart below reproduces the machine memberships on pages 5–6 of the English 2026 catalog linked from PFAFF’s official accessories page. It is a lookup chart. To approve a particular foot, also read that foot’s own catalog row, reference number and conditions.
PFAFF machine group chart: A through L
The source prints A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, J, K and L; it does not print an I group. J and K are shown at their full subgroup level below. Model families are repeated with each number so a bare number cannot accidentally move into another family.

How to use the code when buying a presser foot
- Read the full model name from the machine and manual, including family and suffix.
- Find its code in the chart. Preserve J1/J2/J3 or K1–K5 rather than shortening it.
- Open the exact accessory’s official listing or catalog row. Check whether its supported codes include yours.
- Read any IDT, holder, stitch-width, plate or model-specific exception before choosing that exact reference.
- Follow the machine and accessory instructions for installation and permitted needle positions.
Three details the group letter cannot settle
K does not mean every machine has the same width or IDT setup
The broad K heading in the catalog should not be used to assign one machine specification to every K subgroup. PFAFF’s official Join and Fold Edging Foot page separates machines with 7 mm stitch width and IDT from machines with 6 mm stitch width, including SMARTER BY PFAFF models. Read the exact accessory’s split rather than assuming all K machines have IDT or 7 mm width.
Some repeated names need a version check
The 2026 chart prints tiptronic 2020 and tiptronic 2010 in both C and E. Those source entries are retained above; the bare name does not decide which code applies to an individual machine. Check its original documentation or ask PFAFF to resolve the version before ordering.
Older holders can change the attachment decision
The catalog gives a holder-width warning for the starred Group A hobby models 309, 307, 303 and 301 when using newer feet. Confirm the manufacturer-specified holder and accessory combination. A foot that appears to clip on is not enough evidence that the older holder is the correct one.
PFAFF compatibility FAQ
Does a matching letter approve every foot?
No. Match the exact accessory’s supported codes and additional requirements. Some accessories support only part of a group or require a particular setup.
Can I choose a bobbin from this foot chart?
No. Use the model manual and exact bobbin reference. A foot group does not establish bobbin class or dimensions.
What if my model is missing?
Check PFAFF’s current regional finder and your manual. An omitted model needs confirmation; it should not be assigned to a neighboring group by appearance.
For the wider decision process, use our sewing machine compatibility guide. For attachment terminology, see low-shank, high-shank and snap-on mounts.
