SINGER compatibility has two layers
SINGER’s current accessory system uses lettered machine types CA, CB, CC, CD, CE, EA, EB, EG, MA, MB, MC and SA. The letter is a useful starting point, but it does not replace the exact accessory page. A foot or kit can have its own model list, exclusions, or a different supported subset for each machine family.
Use SINGER’s Find Your Machine Type tool to look up the exact model and its letter code. Then verify the accessory itself and read the machine manual before installation.
SINGER machine group chart
This complete chart follows the current North American official finder, checked October 16, 2026. Labels retain the finder’s family headings and displayed wording; they are lookup labels, so compare your actual machine model and manual. Group SA includes overlock models: it does not make domestic sewing-machine feet compatible with a serger.

If a displayed label combines a family heading and model wording, use the finder to confirm the exact entry rather than treating that combined wording as a different machine. One repeated 8280 entry is shown once. The chart records membership, not blanket approval for every accessory in a collection.
The SINGER compatibility workflow
| Step | Question | Best SINGER source |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Identify the model | What is the complete model name or number? | Rating label and machine manual |
| 2. Find the machine type | Which letter code does SINGER assign? | Official Find Your Machine Type tool |
| 3. Check the accessory | Does the exact SKU or kit name support that model or type? | Official product page and Machine Compatibility section |
| 4. Apply conditions | Are any models excluded, or only some pieces in a kit supported? | Product specifications and compatibility notes |
| 5. Confirm setup | What mounting and needle-position instructions apply? | Machine manual and accessory instructions |
1. Start with the complete model name
Use the model on the machine’s rating label rather than a family nickname from an advertisement. Keep letters, numbers, and suffixes. Similar-looking SINGER machines can be assigned to different accessory types, while one family name can cover several models.
2. Look up the SINGER machine type
The official finder returns a brand, machine name, and machine type. Search the exact model and record the result as a lookup key. Do not guess a letter from machine age, stitch width, body shape, or another machine in the same family.
SINGER also publishes collection pages for lettered types, including Machine Group MB Accessories and Machine Group MC Accessories. These collections help browse candidate accessories after the machine type is known. Their general descriptions do not establish that every item fits every model carrying that letter.
3. Check the exact product page
Open the exact SINGER foot or kit, confirm its SKU, and read the compatibility section. Product-level language controls the purchase decision. Some pages use an explicit list of models or collections rather than a simple letter.
The official SINGER Sewing Machine Presser Foot Kit shows why this step matters. It says the compatible feet in the kit vary by collection, supplies separate model lists, identifies a different subset of supported feet for several families, and names excluded computerized models. A broad statement that a kit fits “most low-shank machines” is therefore not enough to show that every included foot works on one particular model.
4. Treat exclusions and partial kits as decisive
If the product page excludes your model, do not override the exclusion because the mount looks right. If a kit page says only some feet are compatible with a family, describe it as partial compatibility and identify the supported pieces. Compatibility belongs to the exact sellable item and condition, not merely to the box’s general category.
5. Read the manual before attaching the foot
The manual confirms how the standard foot releases, whether an ankle must be removed, the permitted needle position, and any stitch or plate restriction. These operating details prevent a nominally compatible accessory from being used in an unsafe configuration. For mounting terminology, see our low-shank, high-shank, and snap-on guide.
SINGER compatibility FAQ
Does a matching letter guarantee every accessory in that collection fits?
No. Use the letter to narrow the search, then check the exact product page and any model-level conditions.
Is “low shank” enough to approve a SINGER kit?
No. Kits can exclude models or support only a subset of their contents.
What if my model is missing from the finder or product list?
Use the original manual and ask SINGER support to confirm the exact accessory SKU. Do not assign a machine type from appearance alone.
