Keep patchwork and quilting seam allowances aligned with a fixed guide instead of watching the needle-plate markings. The flange follows the fabric edge while the foot maintains a 1/4-inch stitching path.

Snap the Type O foot onto a compatible presser-foot holder, select the centered needle position and guide the raw edge along the flange. The small needle opening also supports controlled straight stitching.
