How to fit it

1. Raise the presser bar lever to its highest position and release the current foot by pressing the snap-on ankle's release button -- the foot slides straight down and off.
2. Hold the gathering foot below the ankle with the flat shank face toward the machine, then slide it upward until it clicks firmly into place.
3. Lower the presser bar lever, bring the needle down manually, and confirm it passes cleanly through the center of the foot aperture.
4. For standalone gathering, place the single fabric layer right-side up under the foot; for gather-and-attach, slide the flat top fabric between the foot and the needle plate, then feed the layer to be gathered underneath.
5. Sew at a moderate speed; increase stitch length for fuller, more open gathers. For maximum fullness, pair this foot with a separate ruffler attachment.
