When shopping for Singer 6606 accessories, keep 6606 in the compatibility check. A nearby number, a shared collection name or a familiar-looking foot is not enough to identify the right part.
Reference 172222PS is a documented plastic Class 66 example for the Singer 6606. Keep the plastic construction and exact model condition with this example; it is not a general match for every Class 66 bobbin.
Plastic and metal are separate choices
Do not treat a metal bobbin as an automatic upgrade. Singer's guidance distinguishes bobbin classes and materials and directs owners to the correct style for their machine. A replacement should match the supported specification rather than whichever version feels heavier or more durable.
Before ordering, compare the exact reference, plastic construction, intended model and pack quantity. Confirm the included pieces and quantity for the item you choose rather than relying on a similar product photograph.
Keep a known-correct bobbin labelled with the machine number. If you are unsure whether an existing bobbin is original or correct, use the machine instructions and an exact-model replacement listing to resolve that uncertainty before using it as a sample.
Choose presser feet by task and fitting
Start with the operation you need: stitching beside zipper teeth, guiding a narrow hem or controlling a seam allowance. Search for an exact accessory that supports the 6606, then check how it attaches and what instructions or companion pieces it requires.
“Low shank” and “snap-on” describe only part of the fitting. Ask about the holder, any adapter, needle opening and permitted stitch settings for the specific foot. A machine's possible stitch width does not mean every attached foot permits that width.
For a mixed set, obtain a component-by-component compatibility answer. A seller naming 6606 for one included foot does not establish that every other attachment in the box is suitable. Check that the photographed contents match the offered set.
Match needles and setup to the instructions
Select the needle system from the 6606 instructions, then choose the point and size for the fabric and thread. Follow the manual's insertion and threading diagrams. Keep twin-needle work and specialty techniques subject to their own specified settings and accessory requirements.
After fitting a confirmed accessory, make a sample using the project's fabric and thread. Begin with the recommended setup. If the needle contacts the foot or plate, stop and check the fitting and settings before continuing.
Separate routine supplies from repair parts
A bobbin, bobbin case, cover and needle plate are different components. Describe which piece is missing or damaged and supply a photograph and any readable reference. Do not buy a whole mechanism when the actual need is a smaller, separately identified part.
If poor stitches persist with the correct supplies and setup, follow the cleaning instructions and consider a service assessment. A larger accessory kit will not identify the cause of an unresolved mechanical fault.
