Invisible Zipper Foot for BERNINA Old Style: Check 0308207000

Sewlume Editorial |

Invisible zipper foot #35, reference 0308207000, is for selected BERNINA Old Style models. Its underside grooves guide the zipper coils so stitching can run close to them, as illustrated in BERNINA's Foot #35 technique sheet. Before ordering, match the exact reference, complete machine model and Old Style attachment.

Here, “Old Style” describes the attachment design, rather than the condition of the item. The foot number 35 alone does not identify which attachment version you need.

Keep these identifiers separate:

Identifier What it helps you check
Foot #35 The invisible-zipper accessory design; the number alone does not settle the attachment version.
Reference 0308207000 The specific Old Style foot being considered.
Complete machine model Whether that exact machine is listed for the reference.
Old Style attachment The required mounting design, checked with the machine instructions and existing fitting.

Check the complete model and attachment

The supported model list for 0308207000 is below. Every entry requires the BERNINA Old Style attachment. The headings organize the listed models; they do not include unlisted models between them.

BERNINA Old Style: 500–900 models

530, 532, 534, 540, 600, 610, 640, 644, 700, 707, 708, 709, 717, 718, 719, 730, 731, 732, 740, 741, 742, 800, 801S, 802S, 803S, 807, 808, 809, 810, 811, 817, 818, 819, 820, 830, 831, 832, 841, 842, 850, 900, 910, 930, 931, 932, 933, 940, 950.

BERNINA Old Style: 1000–1600 models

1000+, 1001, 1004, 1005, 1006, 1008, 1010, 1011, 1015, 1020, 1021, 1030, 1031, 1050 Holidaynu, 1070, 1080, 1090, 1120, 1130, 1230, 1240, 1260, 1530, 1630.

For reused model numbers such as 540, 640, 700, 730, 740, 820 and 830, this list refers to the Old Style machine and mounting system. It does not establish fit for a later machine with the same number or for a model whose complete name adds a different series.

Keep the model wording intact. The Old Style listings for 640 and 730 do not mean Artista 640 or Artista 730. Reference 0308207000 is not for those two Artista models.

If the model label or existing attachment is unclear, identify it before choosing a replacement. A similar-looking foot or another listing called “#35” does not establish the same mounting design.

Understand what the grooves do

The two grooves beneath the foot accommodate the coils of an invisible zipper. They help hold the coils in position for stitching close beside them, allowing the fabric edges to meet when the zipper is closed.

Check that your project calls for an invisible zipper and follow the pattern's installation method. The accessory's name is not a promise that any zipper, fabric or setup will produce an invisible result without a sample.

Do not choose by the appearance of a finished garment photograph. Confirm the foot's reference and attachment first, then test the sewing combination.

Plan the installation before sewing the seam

In BERNINA's illustrated Foot #35 method, page 1, the zipper tapes are attached to the fabric pieces before the seam below the zipper is completed. Plan that sequence before closing the garment seam.

Use the instructions for your exact machine and foot for safe fitting and stitch setup. Follow the machine manual's power-off procedure when changing the foot. Keep the project's pattern and zipper instructions with the setup notes.

Make a sample with the project's fabric and the intended zipper type. Use the appropriate underside groove for each side, following the accessory instructions. Keep the zipper untwisted and stop when the foot reaches the zipper pull rather than forcing it past.

Complete the seam below the zipper using the appropriate regular zipper foot and the applicable instructions. Then close the sample zipper and inspect the result. Check that the fabric edges meet as intended and that the zipper opens and closes without force before using the method on the garment.

For a useful comparison, mark one matching point on both sample pieces before inserting the zipper. After closing it, compare the fabric edges at that point. This gives you a specific alignment check alongside the opening-and-closing check.

Inspect three things separately: whether the edges meet, whether your matching marks align and whether the zipper moves freely. A good result on one check does not settle the other two. Resolve an unsatisfactory sample before working on the garment; it does not identify a machine fault or prove that another foot is needed.

If the model or attachment needs checking, contact Sewlume with the complete model, reference 0308207000 and a clear photo of the existing attachment. No disassembly is needed for an initial question. Cover or crop the serial number from a model-label photo unless support specifically needs it.

Sources and scope

BERNINA's one-page technique sheet explains the Foot #35 grooves and sewing sequence. It does not establish that reference 0308207000 fits every machine using a Foot #35. Keep the exact Old Style attachment and the stated Artista exclusions in the fitment check.
